MEET NAREE WOOD

Naree has been a professional horse trainer and riding instructor for over 26 years, specialising in the re-education of ‘problem’ horses and their riders.

She has extensive experience bringing out the best, in some of the worst the equine population has to offer.

Experienced in all equestrian disciplines, she specialises in dressage, and believes this is the foundation for all disciplines.

What sets her apart from the many ‘horse trainers’, is her ability to communicate, not only with horses, but also with people of all ages and abilities. Her teaching is simple and often described as “common sense”. She is honest, straight forward, and has a sharp eye for detail.

Not a competitive person by nature, she instead enjoys ‘winning’ every day at home, with her own horses and those of her clients.

Seeing her clients achieve incredible results, brings her much joy.

Not one to boast about her abilities or achievements, shy of self promotion and social media, she believes people will find her when they are ready for what she has to offer.

Riders of any discipline, prepared to listen & work hard, are guaranteed to achieve success.

Experience

Naree has spent years working in racing and trotting stables and other riding establishments in Australia, with mentoring from some of the country’s greatest horsepeople.

Invited to train in Europe, she studied under the principle riders of the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art, riding day & night, honing her high level dressage movements on schoolmasters stallions, then began training the young stallions and ‘problem’ horses.

Then travelling to the UK, studying at their top establishment, the Talland Riding School, receiving instruction from olympic level riders, further honing high level dressage movements and riding of ‘problem’ horses.

Naree also has experience gentling and training Australia’s wild horse – the brumby.

She continues to study new training methodologies and techniques, and continues her formal equine, business & teaching education.

Training philosophy

With more than a just a passion for horses, Naree has dedicated her life to their welfare, and sharing her ‘Common Sense’ horsemanship principles

A comprehensive assessment of the horse’s physical well being is undertaken before any training, looking specifically at the health and functionality of the horse’s feet, teeth, back and saddle.

Then her training moves to a “ground up” system of teaching people how to understand horses, and horse training principles, so they can learn to communicate effectively with their horse, building a foundation of trust and respect.

By employing these principles, riders can achieve excellent results.

A series of progressive programs can take you and/or your child from beginner to advanced in most disciplines, with dressage a specialty.
